Who are we?

Teacher Lianne

I started in mainstream but always had a passion for special needs children and while in mainstream I taught a lot of special needs children. I then got offered a position in special needs school teaching a variety of children with disabilities and I love it.

Teacher Vicky

I started my teaching career by studying my PGCE through the University of Pretoria, not entirely sure that this was the direction I wanted to go in. I then moved to Port Elizabeth and completed my Honours in Psychology. It was during this year that I began volunteering at a special needs centre called Victory Kids. I had always had a keen interest in special needs, particurlarly autism, but it was not until I volunteered that I realised that this was where I wanted to be. After three years in Port Elizabeth, and missing Jo'burg terribly, Lianne sent me a message, the school she worked for in Jo'burg had an opening. I applied and began working at Footprints Preparatory School.

And so this blog is the culmination of Lianne and I working together, wanting to share great ideas and give back to the South African Teaching Community.
